Ameren Chairman President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Rainwater accepted the 2005 Chairman's Award from The Salvation Army's Majors Lonneal and Patty Richardson at the Feb. 23 Tree of Lights Victory Luncheon, where Rainwater announced that the Tree of Lights campaign raised $4,547,427 – surpassing its $4.5 million goal.
Rainwater also announced that Ameren raised $180,000 for the Army through a promotion for direct pay. Through the Nov. 1 to Jan. 31 campaign, Ameren agreed to donate $10 to the Salvation Army for every Ameren customer who signed up for Direct Pay—18,066 customers signed up.
At the luncheon, Rainwater reminded everyone of the great work of The Army in providing help for the homeless, for victims of disaster, for those who are jobless or who are seeking counseling and rehabilitation for substance abuse—he praised The Army for living its guiding principle— “Doing the Most Good.”
