-Michael G. Mueller is President of Ameren Energy Fuels and Services Company (AFS), a non-regulated subsidiary of Ameren Energy Resources Company, formed in 2000. In this position he is responsible for the procurement and transportation of all coal, natural gas and oil for Ameren. He is also responsible for the management of emissions, coal combustion by-products (CCPs) businesses and other fuel related development efforts, including the development of Ameren’s Renewable Energy program.
Mr. Mueller joined AmerenUE (formerly known as Union Electric Company) in 1986 as an engineer in Corporate Planning. In 1988 he became a fuel buyer in the Fossil Fuel Department and in 1994 was named senior fuel buyer. In September 1998, Mr. Mueller became director of coal trade for Ameren Corporation's independent energy marketing affiliate, AmerenEnergy. In January 1999, Mr. Mueller was named manager of the Fossil Fuel Department and in 2000 was promoted to vice president. His most recent promotion to president of AFS occurred in October of 2004.
Mr. Mueller currently serves on the boards of the National Coal Council, United Way-IL Division, St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Louis for Kids. Past board memberships include the American Coal Council and Coal Trade Association. Mr. Mueller is also past President of St. Augustine’s School Board and PTO.
Mr. Mueller earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri- Rolla, and a master's in business administration from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
